SRK gives way to Shahid Kapoor as the new ‘Raj’

With SRK adding years, he no longer seems to fit into the romantic Raj image of the Yash Raj camp. So, Yash Raj Films have very wisely decided to move on and have have wasted no time in zeroing on their new Raj - chocolate boy Shahid Kapoor. The Yash Raj camp sees Shahid as the classic romantic hero who has the potential to turn on the sexy or rugged vibe when required.

So, now we have Shahid Kapoor working on two Yash Raj projects in a row- One is Anurag Singh’s ‘Hadippa’ opposite Rani Mukherjee and the other is Parmeet Sethi’s untitled flick where he is paired opposite Anushka Sharma.

SRK gave us some most memorable movies as the Raj of the Yash Raj camp. How far Shahid Kapoor does justice to Raj, only time can tell.

Kay Kay Menon turns down Mallika’s offer


Such is her airs that not many men in Bollywood can say no when Sex kitten Mallika Sherawat asks for something. Even Big B couldn’t say no to her when she offered to go for jogging in slow motion on National Television.

But finally one man has emerged to have guts to refuse her. Apparently, it is Kay Kay Menon who turned down the role that Mallika offered him in her home production Hisss.

Mallika and Menon have already worked in Sanjay Chhel’s ‘Maan Gaye Moghal-E-Azam’ and in her promotional interviews for the film she openly praised his work. So, when she came upon the question of an actor for an important and intense role in her film, naturally Kay Kay’s name cropped in her mind. She then sent her team over to him with the script.

However, after few days Kay Kay called Mallika and refused the offer saying that the script was definitely interesting and that he was confident that she would make a good film but he cannot see himself in that part that she has offered him in the film.

Sharon stone to act in Tapan Saha directed movie

Definitely, after a number of Oscar awards nomination for ‘SlumDog Millionaire’ it must have developed an interest for Hollywood stars to act in a movie produced in India and many have started working on projects. Among the stars, who are inline for shooting in Bollywood, the most noted one is ‘Basic Instinct” star Sharon Stone!

51 years old star has agreed to work in a movie titled, ‘Lost Love’ that would be directed by Tapan Saha. Her role is based on character of Maxine from Jhumpa Lahiri’s novel, “The Namesake”. She soon would be busy in shooting for movie in Mumbai and Kolkata to be produced either by Lighthouse or Lionsgate productions along with Sampurn Entertainment. For the shooting of the movie, Tapan Saha would also be co-coordinating with Hollywood script writers as well. Sharon’s character is about a daughter of a rich business family settled in Los Angeles and duped by her Indian boyfriend and her efforts to search for her love on her journey to India.

Bollywood strike forced theatres to shut down overseas

Overseas, small theatres that use to display Bollywood movies has been closed down, temporarily, until dispute is not get resolved out between theatre owners and film producers. According to a theatre owner in Vancouver, “It trickled down to basically everybody. So we had had a period where there was, you know, on average … the small movie coming out every couple of weeks and then now it’s just come to a complete standstill.

According to news published in ‘The New York Times’, Eagle Theatre situated at Jackson Heights in New York has closed down showing of Bollywood movies due to overseas strike. The theater is specialized in showing first rate Bollywood movies. Mohammad Asif, a Pakistani 500-seat Eagle said, “We are not part of their problem, but we are affected.” Let’s hope things would be sorted out very soon and there would be release of movies.

Sonam Kapoor in elite club of Indian edition of Harper’s Bazaar


The latest talked about actress of bollywood, Sonam Kapoor is coming as on cover of Harper’s Bazaar India for the month of June 2009. This photo shoot was conducted by Ace photographer Atul Kasbekar. The theme at the cover was displaying an effect of old glamour from Hollywood. By coming on the cover of the magazine she has joined elite club of Kareena Kapoor and Deepika Padukone who earlier also appeared on the cover of Indian edition of the magazine.
